Harpenden Scottish Country Dancing Club (HSCDC) was formed in 1955 with the aim of promoting Scottish Country Dancing by providing an opportunity for dancers to meet and dance in an enjoyable and sociable atmosphere.
The Club meets every Tuesday evening from 8 pm to 10 pm throughout the year, except Easter, August and the Christmas and New Year Period, at Lourdes Hall, Southdown Road, Harpenden, Herts, AL5 1PF.
The evenings are led by a practised member of the club who devises a weekly programme of around 12 dances. Most of the dances are taken from a core of 150 popular dances maintained by the Silver Cross Dance Group (see 'Contact Us') and others may be chosen by the leader for that evening. Most dances are walked through, with the more difficult ones being explained. There is no step practice and dancers should be familiar with the standard formations and steps.
If you have ever done Scottish Dancing in the past, you will not have forgotten the steps! Why not come along and join us? You will find it an excellent and enjoyable way of keeping fit. The Club is friendly and helpful and whether you decide to come along as a single or as a couple, you may be sure of a warm welcome.
The annual membership fee is £5 with evening fees of £3.00 for members and £3.50 for non-members.
